Blackberry storm 9530 review wifi
The battery can go for days with decent use. Overall though, not too bad. When I first got the phone it was terrible. My battery life was terrible. I spoke to Verizon and they shipped me a new one. While I was waiting on it to arrive I plugged the phone in for 18 hrs.
Now, the battery is much better! Of course, I need to condition the new battery now but kudos to Verizon for the quick customer service. Not just for Verizon though. There was no cell service period. However, everywhere I go in my daily life service is good and fast.
Overall - A much improved phone with the updated software. This phone has taken a beating in the reviews but BB has really improved it. July 3, This is my second phone.
I should have known when i had to return my original after the second day of usage because the browser would refuse to connect to the internet. Now my new one connects to the internet but the phone is terrible. I can sometimes hear the person speaking or the other way and they cant hear me. Or i can hear them or they dont hear me. I drop connection like crazy. Even in my own home where i never had an issue with any other phone on the same network.
July 2, The device contains a powerful processor, a user replaceable battery, a good 3. All very good things Imagine trying to type on a normal desktop keyboard where all the keys are connected together and you have to wait for one key to pop back up to hit the next Software:Here is where I think the main issues with the phone are.
It is obvious to me as a software developer that the firmware for the Storm was severely rushed and likely contain some serious underlying structural problems. To me it looks like RIM grabbed their latest OS version and told a group of developers to slap a touch screen interface on top of the OS. The browser is also Ok, nothing special. RIM really needs to migrate to a WebKit browser for the Storm 2 and rebuild the core operating system to support multi-touch or they are totally done in the touch screen smart phone marketplace.
Needs constant recharging. The phone will ring, but the OS will stall, freeze, and not let me actually answer the call at all. I have to call back whoever was calling once the phone responds. Most actions in the OS take far longer than they rightfully should. Memory problems abound. Random reboots.
In the middle of typing an email? This happens at least once a day for me even with the newest software upgrade. Random freezing. If these issues were fixed, this phone would almost be on par with the iPhone, if not better, however, I fear many of these issues are hardware related and not simply software related so no fixes without new hardware for some of this stuff.
I love the storm! When it works its a great phone. For the first 3 months of owning the phone I had to forward my calls to my iphone because it would lock up everytime I took it out of the holster. But I really do love the phone when it works But to sum it all up the new firmware fixed alot of the problems, but It still needs some fine tunning.
So there you have it! The Blackberry Storm is a good phone when it works Sigh! July 1, This phone does what its supposed to. It has tons of apps and is relatively fast if you update the software on occasion and besides a few bugs its a great smart phone. I have had it since its release and the phone is progressively getting better software wise.
My only gripe is that the phone is somewhat fragile. I dropped mine on pavement from about a foot up a month after buying it and now my screen has had a crack ever since. Also, I have a decent amount of dust under my screen but its only visible in direct sunlight. Overall I would say this is a great phone, but only if you are an advanced user capable of updating software and such on your own. The truth is that the phone requires some getting used to, but once you do The Storm has a good web browser, a great media player, and a nice interface.
Pushing the screen in like a button can feel a little weird at first, but once you get used to it, your thumbs can really fly on it. I love mine - it does exactly what I want! Unlike others who have written reviews I believe the OS is the reason this phone does not shine as bright as it should, as opposed to the hardware.
I really wanted to like this phone. I really tried to like this phone. However, after six months I really hate this phone. I will admit that it has gotten better with the recent software update but it still lacks the polish that apple or palm has put into their flagship line of phones.
The browser is terrible. It would have been a nice mobile browser years ago but today it just feels dated and slow. The click screen is neat at first but is soon annoying when you realize how much it slows down typing. The one thing that does work really well on the phone is the email.
If you are looking for a messaging device or mobile email device then get a Blackberry Bold or Tour, if you are looking for a cool phone with apps and media playback go with an iphone or pre.
Me being a gadget guy continuously updated to the latest Beta OSes and this actually caused me more problems that staying with the original OS would have.
I did originally have some problems with the screen click not working quite right but that was fixed and now I have virtually no complaints with the phone. For those that complain of battery life I have no problem going 1. I truly hated this phone for the first two months I had it. After they gave us the 4. The update has really made a remarkable improvement in usability of this phone. Knocking score down to 5 from 5. A lot of people are still not able to get it.
Pros:The camera is pretty decentThe sure press screen is fairly intuitive once you get used to itThe GPS locks quickly3G speeds are excellent, as well as signal receptionImpressive feature setOS allows for multi-tasking, MMS, and tetheringCons:Slow, slow, slow, slowPhone locks up all the time, even when just typing every words Several times a day, a batter pull is necessitated, which requires the phone 9 minutes to restart I timed it I was only able to successfully answer about half the calls the rest the phone just chocked and died on Voice quality microphone was surprisingly poor, necessitating that I use a headset at all times if I wanted people to be able to understand meBattery life REQUIRED me to carry two fully charged batteries to make it through 12 hours of light use 20 minutes of phone usage 30 minutes of web Screen design allows dust to get behind the screen after two months I could barely read the text on the screen.

By Engadget , Each time i try to connect a message pops up that "My device does not currently have any browser configuration service Book entries.. What can i do to install a browser on this phone.. Did u get help? Im now having it blackberry but no internet no browser.
Boat, 08 Oct Im now having it blackberry but no internet no browser. Could it be because it was made for verizon and am using it in Kenya? This is the my bad experience that i m using this phone. My BB storm doesn't have a browser, I love this phone but I can't access the internet. I need help. I find myself pressing the BB logo button to bring up "switch application" to view which apps are running.
Once I close a few apps the hiccups seem to go away. I try to always be mindful of that, and close any unused apps showing when I press switch application. I tested both for over a hour in the store and I found that the learning curve for both was about the same.
I'm used to a stylus, so new to both Blackberry input types. Many people may relate better to the keys because of using a qwerty for years. I notice in the corners of the SurePress Screen that a little bit more pressure may be needed when selecting items near the perimeter of the screen.
It had new seal sticker placed on the same spot, and new software version sticker over the old version. The software seems to work well, occasionally twitchy, I did have to pull the battery since activation. Likely too many apps running in the background and didn't realize it.
This is a common reality with any PDA and Smartphone, they all have limits. Longer battery life usually adds weight, so there'll always be a trade off. I enjoy the all touch concept it really is fast and enjoyable to use. There was a learning curve to this phone if you get it give it time, then it is hard to put down.
If you want a blackberry and you are on Verizon i would recommend this phone, go and get it give it a try. Add your review.
